America 250 Celebration Weekend | July 2 -5

A four-day celebration honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Join us for patriotic performances, special exhibits, family activities, dining specials, and unique Museum experiences that highlight 250 years of American history through the eyes of Marines.

July 2 | Summer Concert Series

Summer Concert Series featuring the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps "The Commandant's Own" and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps at 7:00 p.m.

Explore a special pop-up from the Museum store on July 2 and 4. 

July 2-5 | Flags in the Park

Pay tribute to our heroes by placing an American flag in Semper Fidelis Memorial Park. Complimentary flags will be available at the Medal of Honor Theater and Rifle Range through Sunday, July 5, while supplies last.

Veterans and Athletes, United (VAU) Dog Tag Flag Memorial

This 28-foot American flag is made up of over 7,000 dog tags honoring service members who gave their lives in the Global War on Terror. It stands as a solemn and moving tribute to their sacrifice and the enduring strength of their memory.

June 4th | Silent Drill Platoon Performance

Join us at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Thursday, June 4 for a special performance by the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. Known for their precision marching and expertly choreographed rifle maneuvers, the Silent Drill Platoon represents the professionalism and excellence of the Marine Corps.

Schedule:
• 4:30 PM – 4:45 PM | Performance
• 4:45 PM – 5:00 PM | Meet & Greet

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for viewing. The Museum will operate regular hours from 9 AM – 5 PM, so plan your visit to explore the galleries, grab a bite to eat and shop before the performance begins.

SCS Quantico Marine Band-1-1

June 9th | Summer Concert Series: Quantico Marine Band

Join us on Tuesday, June 9 at 7 PM as the Quantico Marine Band opens the Summer Concert Series. Established in 1918, one of the Marine Corps’ oldest professional musical ensembles, the band features both ceremonial and concert elements and performs a wide range of music—from traditional marches to contemporary favorites—along with specialized small ensembles including jazz, brass, and rock groups.

Concerts are held outdoors on the Museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The Museum, Tun Tavern and Museum Store will remain open until 6:45 PM. Outdoor concessions will be available. No alcoholic beverages permitted on Museum grounds.

June 18th | Summer Concert Series: U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters

Join us on Thursday, June 18 at 7 PM as the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters take the stage. As the Navy’s official chorus, the Sea Chanters perform a wide range of music—from sea shanties and patriotic standards to Broadway and contemporary selections—delivering a dynamic and engaging vocal performance.

Concerts are held outdoors on the Museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The Museum, Tun Tavern and Museum Store will remain open until 6:45 PM. Outdoor concessions will be available. No alcoholic beverages permitted on Museum grounds.

June 27th | Summer Classic Car Show

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 27 and join us from 9 AM to 12 PM for the Summer Classic Car Show! This free, family-friendly event is open to the public.

Event Schedule:
8:00 – 9:00 AM: Registered Vehicle Check-in
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Car Show Open to the Public

Vehicle Registration:
Registration is free and open to vehicles 25 years or older. Only registered vehicles will be permitted in the reserved parking area. Register by Thursday, June 25 at midnight.

While you’re here, explore the Museum (open 9 AM – 5 PM), including galleries, the Medal of Honor Theater, Rifle Range, Museum Store, and on-site dining at Tun Tavern or Devil Dog Diner. Outdoor concessions will also be available.

June 27-28 | American Film Classics: The Guns of Navarone

Step back in time and experience legendary films as they were meant to be seen—on the big screen. The American Film Classics series at the Medal of Honor Theater inside the National Museum of the Marine Corps brings together unforgettable stories of grit, sacrifice, and heroism.

This epic World War II adventure follows a team of Allied commandos on a near-impossible mission: infiltrate a heavily fortified Nazi stronghold and destroy two massive guns blocking a critical rescue operation. Starring Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, and David Niven, the film delivers high-stakes action, tension, and unforgettable performances.

July 2nd | Summer Concert Series: U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps & U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps

Celebrate America’s 250th with a special joint performance on Thursday, July 2 at 7 PM by  U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps “The Commandant’s Own” and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps. This concert brings together centuries of military musical tradition in a dynamic and patriotic program. 

Concerts are held outdoors on the Museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The Museum, Tun Tavern and Museum Store will remain open until 6:45 PM. Outdoor concessions will be available. No alcoholic beverages permitted on Museum grounds.

July 22 - 24 | We, The Marines: 9th Birthday Celebration

Celebrate the 9th Anniversary of the Medal of Honor Theater and its signature giant-screen film, “We, the Marines,” at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Opened on July 23, 2017, the theater has immersed visitors in the experience of becoming and serving as a U.S. Marine through breathtaking footage filmed at Marine Corps installations across the country. Narrated by the late Academy Award®-winning actor and Marine Gene Hackman, the film remains an inspiring tribute to the men and women who serve our nation.

In celebration of the 9th anniversary, special “Set Your Own Price” showings will be offered July 22–24, 2026, with a minimum admission price of $2.50 per person. Online purchases are subject to a $1.00 booking fee per ticket.

SCS Airmen of Note-1

July 30th | Summer Concert Series: U.S. Air Force Band Airmen of Note

Join us on Thursday, July 30th at 7 PM as the U.S. Air Force Band Airmen of Note take the stage. Based at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., the Airmen of Note is one of six premier ensembles of the U.S. Air Force Band. Established in 1950 to carry on the legacy of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces dance band, the 18-member group—including one vocalist—performs a dynamic mix of big band and contemporary jazz. 

Concerts are held outdoors on the Museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The Museum, Tun Tavern and Museum Store will remain open until 6:45 PM. Outdoor concessions will be available. No alcoholic beverages permitted on Museum grounds.

Assemble your strongest team of up to six and join us for Trivia Nights at Tun Tavern at the National Museum of the Marine Corps! Free and open to the public, 6 PM - 9 PM.

Compete in pop culture, geography, and general knowledge trivia, with a fun bonus round to keep things interesting.

August 20th | Summer Concert Series: U.S. Navy Concert Band

Join us on Thursday, August 20 at 7 PM as the United States Navy Concert Band takes the stage.  As the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, the Concert Band presents a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions and modern wind ensemble repertoire.

Concerts are held outdoors on the Museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The Museum, Tun Tavern and Museum Store will remain open until 6:45 PM. Outdoor concessions will be available. No alcoholic beverages permitted on Museum grounds.

August 27th | Summer Concert Series: "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band

Join us on Thursday,  August 27 at 7 PM for the grand finale of the Summer Concert Series, featuring "The President's Own" United States Marine Band. Enjoy an inspiring evening of patriotic favorites, popular selections, and wind band classics in this free outdoor performance. 

Concerts are held outdoors on the Museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets.
